Location
The conventional center is the main conventional center in Putrajaya. It's located in Precinct 5, at the top
of Taman Puncak Selatan.
Overview
It was constructed in 2001 and completed in 2003. Its distinct design and architecture took the shape of 'Wau',
a shape of a traditional Malay kite, inspired by Malaysia 4th Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir. It confines an
area of 1.3 million square feet. It was completed in time to host the 10th Conference of Organization of Islamic
Countries. Since then, it has hosted many official government and private event, due to its high security standard.
The convention center can hold up to 10,000 people with more than 55 halls and small rooms spreading over 9 levels
to accommodate a variety of events.
It was visited by important and famous icon including Bill Gates and the CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer. It was
awarded the first runner up for the Best Energy Efficiency Building in 2007 by ASEAN. It also hosted a very successful
fireworkcompetition in 2007 and 2008, the Malaysian International Firework Competition that brings visitors from
worldwide to Putrajaya, Malaysia. The nearby attractions include the Putra Mosque, Botanical Garden and the Putrajaya Bridge.
Transport
By Train
There is an express monorail that services from KLIA and KL Sentral to Putrajaya. Take the Express Rail Link
and head off at Putrajaya. From there take the Putra Nadi around the city.
By Bus
Take the Cityliner 868 from either Seri Sinar or Serdang Station to Putrajaya. A public bus by the name
of Putra Nadi bus services around the city of Putrajaya at a low cost of Rm0.50 per ride. Take Putra Nadi
to the convention center.
